Len Dykstra Needs Alcohol Awareness, Drug Awareness and Theft Classes

One thing about Lenny Dykstra is that whatever he does he goes balls to the wall. The former Major League Baseball player who shined for the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies earned his nickname “Nails” from his untirable work ethic and leave it all out on the field mentality.

Even during his playing days the inner-demon of addiction reared its ugly head.  In 1993 Dykstra drove his Porsche 911 off the road at an incredibly high rate of speed, while totally bombed.  He was lucky that he and his passenger, catcher Darin Daulton, were not killed.  Both suffered multiple broken bones and required lengthy hospital stays and rehabilitation.

It looks like Nails is back at it.

An trouble for alleged financial wrongdoings, drug possession and grand theft auto, has now been charged with indecent exposure for showing off his, er, bat to prospective assistants he found over Craigslist.

Dykstra reportedly posted ads for personal assistants or housekeepers on Craigslist, but when the women arrived for the interview, he would “inform the women that the job also required them to give a massage and would expose himself to them,” according to prosecutors in Los Angeles. This happened at least six times, they say.

Dykstra was charged earlier this year in federal court with bankruptcy fraud and embezzlement, among other charges, and was arrested a month later for grand theft auto and drug possession and myriad other misdeeds. Prosecutors in that case say he used false information to lease a car from a Southern California dealership. He remains in jail since his June arrest.

Here’s to hoping nails can dedicate his energies to staying sober and out of trouble. It is going to take a major effort for the once great ball player.
