Indiana Alcohol Class and More Needed For Parents Joy Riding With Kids

Some of the stories I hear about decisions parents make frighten me.  As a counselor for both in-class and online alcohol classes I am adamantly against parents allowing their children to drink alcohol and even supplying it.  Other parents even throw parties for their kids and their friends.

That is parenting insanity. But the following story from KSEE24.com really raises the hair on the back of my neck.

Police in Fort Wayne, Indiana have arrested two people for drunk driving after they strapped their kids on the hood of the car with a tow strap before leaving a liquor store.  Yes, you read that correctly – they strapped their kids to the hood for the drive home from the liquor store.

The four children -- ages 4, 5, 6, and 7 -- were strapped to the hood of a moving car by Aaron Stefanski and Jessica Clark, who were both charged with DUI and neglect of a minor in the incident..

Of course the kids were happy as pigs in mud riding on the hood of the car because it sounds like fun.  Heck, the parents took the necessary safety precautions by strapping them down like a shot deer, right?

The man driving is the father to three of the children. The female passenger is the mother to one of the children.

When they were pulled over Clark quickly tried to dispose of an open container.

What the heck were they thinking? This requires much more than a simple alcohol class. They need parental counseling as well as perhaps psychological counseling to see if they are insane.
